The main advantage of plastic packaging is that it is generally the lowest cost and most efficient packaging solution.

Plastics can be produced quickly and cheaply and are used in some form for packaging most products. They are durable and lightweight and can be constructed specifically to enhance the product packaged within.

Often maligned as being “non-environmental”, plastics still have a major part to play in today’s society, although there are obvious opportunities to better utilise our waste management, and also by replacing plastics with other re-useable or degradable materials where we can.
